$1,175, in 1909. We have been paying it forward ever since.
The fund feeds the deep roots of this parish so its ministries and campus can flourish for centuries to come, and so future caregivers can tend to our brothers and sisters most in need.
Many parishioners have included the Rose Fund in their estate plans. Estate gifts can provide meaningful support to our ministries and may cost you nothing during your lifetime.
Sample bequest language: “I give, devise and bequeath to the Saint E’s Rose Fund of Saint Elizabeth R C Church the sum of $_____[or___%] to be used for the support of _________. If it is ever impossible, impracticable, or inadvisable to use the gift in the manner set forth above, then my gift shall be used in an alternative manner that honors as closely as practical my original intentions as specified above.”
Contact us, especially if you plan to make a restricted bequest. We can help ensure your legacy meets your objectives.
A donor-advised fund works like a charitable savings account you create with your financial advisor. You can fund it with cash, stock and other assets. The Rose Fund welcomes grants from a DAF, and you can name Saint Elizabeth’s as your DAF beneficiary for the fund.
For your grant request, notify our staff and use Federal Tax ID 22-1593535.
If you are 70½ or older, you may be able to direct an IRA distribution to Saint Elizabeth’s for the Rose Fund. Eligibility, annual limits and tax treatment depend on current rules and your circumstances. Beginning at age 73, a distribution can count toward your required minimum distribution and avoid being recognized as income.
Ask your IRA custodian and tax adviser whether this suits you, then contact Dan to confirm receiving instructions and get the right acknowledgement letters. Current IRS guidance
Gifts of long-term appreciated stocks, bonds and mutual funds may save you more in taxes than gifting cash. For securities owned longer than a year, do not sell appreciated stock first: transfer it directly to Saint Elizabeth’s for the Rose Fund. For depreciated securities, sell first and give cash.
